About Me

Introduction: Welcome to my home on the Web!  First, allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Greg Linster and I’m currently a full-time graduate student studying the applied branch of philosophy called economics at the University of Denver.   Essentially, this website is the central hub for everything I’m involved in on the Web.

Professional: Currently, I tutor undergraduate athletes at DU.   In the past, I have worked in the CDO (Collateralized Debt Obligation) groups at two major global banks in Chicago, IL: ABN Amro and the Bank of New York Mellon. More recently, I worked for a boutique online marketing firm in Boulder, CO doing quantitative analysis.  I’m interested in teaching and research after I finish school.  Please feel free to connect with me on LinkedIN and on the academic and research sharing site Mendeley.

Organizations:  I’m a member of The Long Now Foundation.

Writing: I write a blog called Coffee Theory and I answer a lot of questions on Quora.  I also share my own aphorisms and those of others (almost daily) at Aphoristic Cocktails.  My writing has been referenced on The Stoic Library, ScienceBlogs, Less Wrong, and The Wall Street Journal.  I’ve had pieces published on The Politics of Well-Being, ribbonfarm, The Financial Philosopher, and Bookslut. Furthermore, I’ve also had aphorisms published on James Geary’s blog All Aphorisms, All The Time.

Personal:  I’m working on becoming a philosopher (one never truly becomes a philosopher) and, as I previously alluded to, I’m an essayist who also embraces the literary form known as the aphorism (I like witticisms as well!).  Most importantly, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.
